On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at approximately 11:49 p.m., officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment responded to a report of an off-road vehicle (ORV) crash in the bush area near Nineth Concession East and Baseline Road.
A John Deere side-by-side ORV struck a downed tree, resulting in serious injuries to a 31-year-old male passenger. Emergency services, including Tiny Township Fire and Simcoe County Paramedics, attended the scene and transported the injured individual to hospital.
The 29-year-old male driver was arrested at the scene and transported for further investigation. As a result, David Petten of Tiny Township has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 2, 2025. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the ORV was impounded for 7 days under ADLS guidelines.
