Impaired Driver Arrested In The Township Of Perry

Multiple traffic complaints led to an impaired driving arrest in the Township of Perry.

On October 16, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the OPP received multiple traffic complainants for a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle a short time after and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 in the Township of Perry. 

Upon speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. They were subsequently arrested, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Anthony Zavaglia, 46 years-of-age, of Kapuskasing, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 14, 2024, in Sundridge.
