Impaired Driver In Stolen Vehicle Drives Through Bracebridge Front Yard

On Saturday June 11, 2022 at 2 p.m. a resident in Bracebridge called the OPP to report a vehicle drove into their yard and hit two parked cars. The home owner was able to block the vehicle to stop the driver from leaving the scene.

Responding officers attended an address on Hiram Street in Bracebridge and determined the vehicle was stolen from Toronto. Further investigation revealed the driver 31-year-old James Tsanoff of Tillsonburg Ontario was never licensed to operate a motor vehicle. Police arrested and charged the driver with the following:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available and other Highway Traffic Act related charges.

The accused remains in custody and will have a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 12, 2022 to answer to his charges.

  1. He was a bit of an erratic dork when he flew into the driveway and left the car in gear while trying to steal a cigarette. High as a kite but admitted it and settled down after awhile. Saw some kids toys in the yard a couple doors down and came back and said “I’m not doing this around children” and sat on the steps. He knew he effed up, just glad nobody got hurt.
