The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with impaired driving.
On April 20, 2024, shortly before 1:00 a.m. members of the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint on Highway 69, Archipelago Township. A vehicle approached the checkpoint, and it was determined the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving. The driver failed an Approved Screening Device (A.S.D) check at the roadside and was arrested.
As a result of the investigation, Jeremy Dearing, 31 years-of-age of Brampton Ontario was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2024. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
