A pickup truck stuck in a ditch resulted in multiple charges against a Barrie man.
On the evening of November 9, 2022, Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to a report of a collision at First Avenue and Alberta Street in Port McNicoll.
On arrival, a male driver was observed attempting to free a pickup truck which was stuck in the ditch after leaving the roadway. After speaking with the male, officers noted that he was showing strong signs of impairment however he registered zero alcohol on a roadside screening test.
The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for an examination by a Drug Recognition Evaluator. Further investigation revealed that the owner of the truck had not provided permission to the driver and that a probation order was being breached.
As a result of this investigation, Ronald Brady, 45 years of Barrie was charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Operation while Impaired – Alcohol or Drug
- Dangerous Operation
- Take Auto Without Consent
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 28, 2022 in Midland. When charged with impaired driving, the drivers license of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.
