Join the Movement for a World without Alzheimer’s Disease
People living with dementia and their caregivers count on the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka for support as they navigate the disease. This year, the Muskoka Parry Sound IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is back and better than ever, returning to an in-person Walk with a virtual option. The Walk, which will be taking place on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Memorial Park in Bracebridge, Ontario, is a movement striving for a world without Alzheimer’s disease.
In 2022, our enthusiastic Walkers raised over $60,000 to help families in Muskoka and Parry Sound touched by this disease – but the fight isn’t over. Did you know that dementia results in more years lived with a disability than stroke, heart disease, and all forms of cancer? And with a growing number of people living with dementia in Muskoka and Parry Sound, the need to support those affected has never been greater.
Mark your calendars for the kick-off BBQ and join us at Memorial Park in Bracebridge, Ontario, for a day of fun, fitness, and raising much-needed funds and awareness. If you are unavailable to participate in person that day, you can also virtually Walk on your own time.
“Community support is essential to maintain our services in Muskoka and Parry Sound,” said Pam Leeder, Interim Executive Director. “Fundraising is essential and is required for a significant portion of our crucial programs and services that support people affected by dementia in our community.”
We encourage all to register on the online fundraising platform, WalkForAlzheimers.ca. For those who prefer to fundraise in person, we also have printed pledge sheets available at the office. If you are unable to register online, please call the office at (705) 645 – 5621 and we will be more than happy to help!
