Huntsville OPP Charge Muskoka Lakes Resident With Impaired

The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following a traffic stop in the Town of Huntsville.

On Thursday, July 30, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Greer Road in the Town of Huntsville. During the interaction, the officer observed signs of possible impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation. The investigation included the administration of a roadside Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST).

As a result of the investigation , Matthew Heavens, 52-years-old of Township of Muskoka Lakes, has been charged with:

·       Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

HEAVENS was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

In addition, a 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment were imposed.
