Nicole Norris, Manager, Georgian College Centre for Changemaking and Social Innovation (centre) discusses changemaking strategies with staff member Lana Komljenovic and Will Rudkins, a Computer Programming student who also works in the centre. Changemaking and social innovation will be some of the topics discussed at the virtual Employer Summit taking place Nov. 14 to 18 during Changemaker in Residency Week at Georgian College.

Think you can change the world? At Georgian, we do too and we’re hosting a virtual Employer Summit for employers, industry and community organizations interested in learning more about how they can make a difference in their business, community and beyond.

Employer Summit 3.0 takes place Nov. 14 to 18 during Changemaker in Residency Week. The summit features a selection of virtual sessions on diverse topics related to making work more accessible and inclusive to attract talent and support your sector in becoming future-fit.

Joanne Foxton, Manager, #ChangeTheNow for the Centre for Changemaking and Social Innovation (CCSI) at Georgian, knows there are changemakers out there who are looking for ways to improve the three Ps – people, planet and profit.

“Employer Summit 3.0 is an opportunity to be inspired to do better and do good as we all learn how to adjust and contribute meaningfully at work and in the community,” said Foxton. “Participants will discover how to build community, the economy and be part of conversations that help address critical issues we’re facing such as a changing labour market, immigration and internationalization, equity, diversity and inclusion, sustainability and more.”

Foxton adds that participants will be able to connect with Georgian students and employees, learn how they can work with CCSI and discover ways to tap into student talent through new work-integrated opportunities such as Innovation Co-ops (iCo-ops) where students work with peers from various disciplines to create products or services that meet community needs.

Participants will also learn about:

  1. social innovation at Georgian College
  2. the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals
  3. economic immigration and hiring global talent
  4. equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging

The summit also features a number of panels and workshops promoting women in non-traditional roles. There will be a Women on the Water panel with women speaking about their experiences as females in a non-traditional industry and the changes they’d like to see.

Registration is now open for this free event. If you want to learn more about Employer Summit 3.0 reach out Joanne Foxton at joanne.foxton@georgiancollege.ca for more information.
