Eric Sprott Donates $10M To Help Build The New Huntsville Hospital

Huntsville Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce that Eric Sprott has made a transformational $10 million gift to the Raise Muskoka Campaign to help build the new Huntsville Hospital.

Eric’s $10 million gift pushes the campaign funds raised past the $63 million mark and he is challenging everyone in the community to do whatever they can to get us to our $70+ million milestone.

The Sprott family has a long history of supporting healthcare in Muskoka. Their generosity has advanced diagnostic care for patients across the region; a legacy reflected today in The Sprott Foundation Diagnostic Imaging Department at Huntsville Hospital. This latest gift builds on that longstanding commitment and the family’s deep connection to this community.

“Muskoka has been a very important part of our family’s life, and supporting the hospital was always important to us,” said Eric Sprott. “We are proud of what our family and The Sprott Foundation have helped make possible over the years. Now we have an opportunity to build on that legacy with a new hospital. I’m very pleased to make this gift and to challenge everyone who loves Muskoka to be part of it.”

“Eric, his family and The Sprott Foundation have stood behind this hospital for years,” said Katherine Craine, CEO, Huntsville Hospital Foundation. “Their generosity has already touched the lives of so many patients and families. This gift continues that commitment and will help shape the future of healthcare in Muskoka.”

The new Huntsville Hospital, to be named in honour of Bob Hutcheson, will provide the capacity, technology and healthcare spaces needed to serve Muskoka and area’s growing and aging population.

“This extraordinary gift will have an impact far beyond the walls of our future hospital,” said Cheryl Harrison, President and CEO of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare. “It is an investment in the patients and families who rely on MAHC’s Huntsville Hospital, and in the dedicated healthcare teams who care for them. We are deeply grateful for this generosity and the lasting impact it will have on healthcare in our community.”

Building the new Huntsville Hospital will take all of us. Whether you live here year-round, spend summers at the cottage, visit Muskoka or simply love this community, Huntsville Hospital will be here when you need it.  Whether it’s $20, $100, or more, every gift moves us closer to making this hospital a reality.

“Eric just did something incredible, and he sent us all an important message: this is our hospital, and this is our moment,” said Tom Anselmi, Raise Muskoka Campaign Co-Chair. “No matter the size of your gift, everyone can be part of building this hospital. Eric just raised the bar. Now it’s on all of us to keep the momentum going.”

The Raise Muskoka Campaign has been made possible by the generosity of donors who share a vision for the future of healthcare in Muskoka. In the months ahead, Huntsville Hospital Foundation looks forward to recognizing more of these generous supporters and sharing the personal stories behind their gifts.
