Driver Charged For Going 146 In A 40 km/h Zone On Simcoe County Rd 93

Southern Georgian Bay OPP spotted a grey Ford Fusion driving southbound at high speed through the newly posted construction zone on Simcoe County Road 93 approaching Golf Link Road, in Midland at 11:01 p.m. May 25, 2021.

The officer obtained a clock of 146 kilometers per hour (Km/hr) in the posted 40 Km/hr zone and stopped the vehicle with minimal interference to other traffic.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer entered into a drinking and driving investigation resulting in the following charges for the 66-year old Midland resident.

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit
  • Race a motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

The accused was released from custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on June 10, 2021. The accused was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension along with a seven day vehicle impound in keeping with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

The name of the accused was not released.
