Get Off the Bus Concerts is pleased to present David Wilcox on Friday, April 9 at the Charles W. Stockey Centre in Parry Sound.
“A blue collar artist.” “A genius.” A superb entertainer. A master guitar player. A great, soulful singer. A unique songwriter. These are a few of the ways David Wilcox has been described. None of them do him justice. Until you have seen Wilcox in concert, you have yet to experience something truly remarkable.
Multiple gold and platinum albums, countless fans of all ages – these are testimony. His music has been skated to by Olympic champions Salé and Pelletier. His songs have appeared in movies like Cocktail with Tom Cruise. Whether it’s a backyard barbeque, a TV theme (Street Legal), Carnegie Hall, or the Montreux Jazz Festival with John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, the music of David Wilcox is a blend of rock, blues, country, ragtime and other roots styles that keep evolving and growing.
On April 9, Wilcox will be performing in support of the West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPSHC) alongside Parry Sound local Jeff Young, whose music combines country, rock and roll, blues and bluegrass.
For nearly a decade, Get Off the Bus Concerts has been supporting the needs and helping to raise the profile of the WPSHC. Their support has enabled the health centre to purchase equipment that has significantly improved patient care and kept excellent care close to home.
The WPSHC Foundation raises funds to enhance patient care for the 70 acute care beds and Clinical Programs & Services, including an Emergency Department, to a population of 25,000 permanent residents. During the non-winter months, the population swells to over one million residents and visitors to Ontario’s most popular seasonal destination.
