Collision On Hwy. 118 North Of Carnarvon Leaves Two People Deceased

Haliburton Highlands OPP is investigating a fatal collision on Highway 118 in Haliburton County, north of Carnarvon.

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 11:40 a.m., Haliburton Highlands OPP Detachment responded to a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. The impact caused the truck to catch fire, which was extinguished by fire services at the scene. The driver and passenger of the motorcycle, a 64-year-old female and a 79-year-old male, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team is assisting with the ongoing investigation and Highway 118, east of Carnarvon, is currently closed between Tulip Road and the 25th Line. The public is advised to avoid the area and plan alternate routes as the closure is expected to be lengthy.
