Such a shame. Families are destroyed because of what was probably a preventable event.

He was wearing a life jacket . According to the article.
Shocking to read this. I was camping close by there. There were gusts of wind that day and it wasn’t too calm. The waters were quite chilly although this sounds like it could’ve been prevented with some preparedness.
Condolences to the family!
I was just finishing a 5 day canoe trip on that day and was shocked by how many people were at Canoe Lake Access Point. There were also many inexperienced paddlers on the lake. All wearing life jackets but it was a shit show. No one could paddle properly and every canoe looked tippy. There needs to be more education and lifeguards in these situations; or 1 experienced paddler per canoe. If you’re going to pack them in to the park (Highway 60 looked like the 401) you have a responsibility to assess their skill level and ensure their safety. Water was cool enough to make an inexperienced person panic.
Bridon read the article again! Then rethink your hashing!! Geez!
I know experience matters but how could someone drown with a life jacket?
cold water can kill look up hypothermia
