Bracebridge OPP has charged two drivers with Impaired Driving related offenses over the course of the weekend.
On December 17, 2022 just before midnight, officers were conducting a RIDE program on Wellington Street near Smith Street in Bracebridge. After an interaction with one driver, police arrested and charged 65 year-old Robert Dankewich of Lively, ON with Operation While Impaired- Over 80.
He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, ON on February 14, 2023 to answer to his charge.
On December 18, 2022 at 7:20 p.m. a motorist on Highway 11 North in Gravenhurst became concerned about the driving behaviour of another motorist and called police. Officers located the vehicle in Gravenhurst and after an investigation into the cause of the behaviour, arrested and charged 55 year-old Michele Monaco of Richmond Hill, ON with Impaired Operation of a Vehicle and Over 80.
She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 14, 2023 to answer to her charges.
In all cases where Impaired Driving charges are laid, the accused’s drivers’ licence is suspended for 90 days and their vehicle is impounded.
Police would like to remind drivers that the Mandatory Alcohol Screening law allows police with an approved alcohol screening device to demand a roadside breath sample from any lawfully stopped driver without having reasonable suspicion that a driver is alcohol impaired.
