Beaver Creek Institution Community Service Volunteers Help Spring Cleanup Efforts

0

The Township of Lake of Bays’ Parks and Facilities Department has partnered with the Beaver Creek Institution Community Service Volunteer Group to assist with spring cleanup efforts in local cemeteries and parks. This partnership aims to enhance the maintenance efficiency of public spaces while providing a cost-effective solution to ensure their timely upkeep.

The participant’s assistance will benefit the community by helping the Parks and Facilities Department prepare public spaces in Lake of Bays for the upcoming Victoria Day long weekend in May and complete additional projects throughout the season. This comes at no cost incurred to the Township aside from providing lunch to the Community Service Volunteer Group.

The Community Service Volunteer Group program was initiated to facilitate the supervised reintegration of offenders back into society by enabling them to contribute positively to community projects. Other nearby towns and organizations, including Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, and Huntsville, as well as Lions Camp Dorset, have successfully participated in this program.

The Volunteer Group, comprised of carefully selected individuals in the final stages of their rehabilitation who have shown dedication to offering meaningful community services, will be supervised by a Correctional Officer from the Beaver Creek Institute.

The Township of Lake of Bays looks forward to future partnerships with the Beaver Creek Institution Community Service Volunteer Group.
