Choice Hotels Canada is recognizing its top performers with its prestigious annual Awards for Property Excellence (APEX). The Bayview Wildwood Resort, an Ascend Collection Hotel, is the recipient of the award for Renovation of the Year. The Ascend Hotel Collection is a network of upscale resorts, historic properties and boutique hotels that offer guests a uniquely local experience.
Altogether 13 national APEX Awards were awarded, recognizing top performance, commitment to guest service, and operational excellence. The Renovation of the Year award recognizes a property that completed renovations that subsequently drove growth in guest satisfaction increases. This included guest feedback that focused on increases in the overall condition of the room, as well as their likelihood to recommend the hotel in future.
The Bayview Wildwood resort team faced many obstacles due to the complexity of the property, and the undertaking of this vast and comprehensive renovation was significant. The hotel did a stellar job at maintaining the focus on the guest experience during the renovation, while incorporating the local look and feel of the Muskoka area.

The extensive project included enlarging the iconic windows overlooking Sparrow Lake, doubling their size to showcase stunning panoramic views. The Market was expanded to feature a wider selection of groceries, apparel, gifts, and toys. The lobby was reimagined into an open concept gathering space featuring elegant mosaic tile throughout, creating a welcoming and airy first impression. The design blends modern finishes with the warmth and character of a luxury beach resort, offering guests a contemporary yet timeless Muskoka experience.
