One person living in a home in Bala is staying with friends tonight after a fire.
Crews got the call at 8 p.m. Saturday night. Firefighters from Bala responded to the reported structure fire at 1031 Lionel Avenue in Bala. Upon arrival, firefighters found a split level single family home (1,500 square feet) fully involved with fire venting through the roof.
Firefighters from Torrance, Walkers Point, Foot’s Bay and Glen Orchard attended the scene to assist. Firefighters had to establish water supply from the frozen river as the road was ice covered and caused the fire apparatus to lose control.
The fire is under control with no threat to the neighbouring properties. There are no injuries reported at this time.
The fire department says a damage estimate is pending and the investigation is ongoing.
