Bracebridge Seeks Partners To Expand Public Art Downtown

The Norwood Theatre's Mural in downtown Bracebridge

The Town of Bracebridge issued a press release calling on building owners in the downtown area to participate in an initiative to expand its public art program. The town is seeking partners interested in hosting outdoor murals to enhance the community’s cultural landscape. A survey has been launched for building owners in the downtown business improvement area to express interest in having their properties serve as canvases for future murals.

The move comes after the success of a large-scale mural installed last year on the Norwood Theatre’s exterior wall, part of a pilot project by DRIFT Mural Co. The mural, celebrating the spirit of Muskoka, transformed a blank wall into a vibrant public art piece, inspiring this latest call for more projects to boost the aesthetic and cultural identity of the downtown.

Building owners interested in participating must submit their responses by November 19, 2024, through an online survey. This initiative is part of Bracebridge’s broader effort to integrate art into public spaces, foster community pride, and support local artists.
