A driver is facing impaired charges after a collision in Midland early this morning.

At around 1:30 a.m. on February 18, 2024, a driver reported seeing a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign and enter a ditch at the intersection of Brunelle Sideroad and Fuller Drive in the Town of Midland. Four people were spotted leaving the vehicle and leaving the area on foot.

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police(OPP) arrived on the scene minutes later and located the occupants of the vehicle. While investigating, officers gathered grounds to believe that the driver of the vehicle had been consuming alcohol.

As a result of this investigation, a 17-year-old male from Burlington, Ontario was charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:

  • Operation while Impaired
  • Operation over 80 Milligrams

The accused was released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a later date. When charged with impaired driving, the driver’s license of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.
