Teen Charged With Impaired Driving In Muskoka Lakes

Bracebridge OPP has charged a young person with a variety of offenses relating to a collision early Sunday morning in Muskoka Lakes Twp.

Police were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision on Sunday morning, May 28, 2023, at 2:15 a.m. on Ranwood Road in Muskoka Lakes Township and officers arrived to find that the occupants had fled the scene. The investigation located the involved parties and as a result police arrested and charged a 17-year-old youth from Etobicoke with the following offenses:

The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice (Youth Court) in Bracebridge on July 6, 2023, to answer to their charges. The Youth Criminal Justice Act protects the identity of charged persons under the age of 18.

Any person who is 16 years or older may apply for driver’s licence in Ontario. This is a time to practice driving and gain experience. For most people, the two-step process called ‘graduated licensing’ takes about 20 months to finish.

As a new driver (G1 or G2) there are many rules to follow to safely gain the experience required to operate a motor vehicle on Ontario roads. All drivers in Ontario who are under the age of 21 must have a ZERO blood alcohol content and G2 drivers may only carry as many occupants as there are seatbelts.
