On Wednesday June 2, 2021 at 10 a.m., Georgian Bay Fire & Emergency Services from Station one and three was dispatched to a possible Structure fire on an island in the Honey Harbor area. When Marine one arrived, crews found a cottager burning leaves and generating large amounts of smoke.
Marine one crews extinguished the fire and educated the cottager about the burn ban that is in effect after several fire trucks were dispatched.
“This is a good reminder to everyone that there is a total fire ban in effect. Please everyone get a burn permit and check the fire danger rating prior to burning.” said Deputy Fire Chief Chad Dowell
