YMCA Of Simcoe/Muskoka Launches 9th Annual Move To Give Fundraising Event

The ninth annual ‘Move to Give’ event will be hosted by the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka during the week of April 29 to May 6, 2023. The massive fundraising initiative will help community members access YMCA programs, who couldn’t otherwise afford it. The goal of the event is to raise $75,000 in an effort to build healthier communities and eliminate financial barriers that many in our communities are facing. This is anticipated to be the largest in-person Move to Give event since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Move to Give will take place at YMCA facilities across our region, including Collingwood, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Innisfil, Midland, Parry Sound, and Wasaga Beach. From a 5km fun run to indoor cycling events, pickleball tournaments, Aquafit, and more – participants will have the opportunity to challenge themselves physically while at the same time, give back to their community.

YMCA child care and school age programs across Simcoe, Muskoka, and Parry Sound will also take part in activities for Move to Give from April 29 to May 6.

“The goal of this tremendous fundraising event is to ensure everyone in our community has equal opportunity to live a healthy lifestyle, and connect to supports that help them reach their full potential,” said Jill Tettmann, CEO, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.

Move to Give not only raises funds to provide participants in need with financial assistance each year, it also raises awareness about the YMCA’s programs, services, and impact on the community, while inspiring healthy, active living. With hundreds of programs and services across our region, from child care, camp and youth development, to health and fitness, and immigrant and employment services, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is a charity that builds individual and community health, strength, skills, and confidence.

“Over the past eight years this event has raised more than $750,000 and brought over 8,000 people together across Simcoe, Muskoka, and Parry Sound, all working towards achieving the same goal – building vibrant and connected communities,” said Tettmann. “As a charity, fundraising events like Move to Give allow us to accomplish our mission and provide community members with barrier-free access to our vital programs and services,” Tettmann added.

This year’s Move to Give ‘Community Mover’ sponsor is Central Ontario Broadcasting – Rock 95, 107.5 Kool FM, and Barrie 360. Their commitment to helping individuals and families in our community is sincerely appreciated.
