The Township of Lake of Bays along with the Lake of Bays Public Library wants to hear from residents about what services they think should be a part of a proposed Community Hub at 1014 Dwight Beach Rd, in Dwight, the current location of the Dwight Library and Community Centre. Traditionally a Community Hub is considered a space with various services offered at a singular location to fulfill multiple or complex community needs. The services can be broad in industry, spanning government, non-profit, and private sectors.
The goal is that the Dwight Community Hub will make it easier and more accessible for full-time and seasonal residents to access programs and services that address local needs and provide a “one-stop shop” experience.
According to the Ontario Government, where community hubs operate, they demonstrate:
- Improved health, social and economic outcomes for individuals
- Demonstrated collective impact at the community level and integrated service delivery at the individual level
- Better social investment
- Protection of public assets
- Stronger communities across Ontario
The short public questionnaire can be accessed at lakeofbays.on.ca/communityhub and hopes to answer the question of ‘what services should go into the Dwight Community Hub?’. Service categories can include health and wellness, recreation, arts and culture, youth, and more.
