Vehicle In The Ditch Leads To Impaired Charge For Midland Resident

A report to the OPP Communications Centre on March 11, 2024 at approximately 2:23 p.m. lead officers to locate a Ford pick-up in the ditch of Old Fort Road near Elliott Side Road, Tay Township. The attending officer from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment spoke with the lone driver then placed the driver under arrest for an impaired driving investigation.

Upon completing the property damage only crash investigation and an investigation into the level of the drivers impairment, Jerry Pilon, 75-years of Midland has been charged criminally with the following offences.

Contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act

The accused was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on March 28, 2024 along with the involved vehicle being towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Officers conducted 13 separate Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) programs throughout the Detachment patrol area checking 325 drivers for signs of impairment over the March 11-12, 2024 time period.
