Tutoring Supports For TLDSB Students

Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) is committed to strengthening the numeracy and literacy skills of students in all areas of the Board. Through the Ministry of Education’s Tutoring Supports Program, a number of initiatives have taken place throughout the 2021-2022 school year, and have continued into the 2022-2023 school year.

“We know that the COVID-19 pandemic caused a learning disruption for many of our students who are struggling to get caught up,” said TLDSB director of education, Wes Hahn. “This funding enables the Board to provide learning recovery to these students to bridge learning gaps, support academic success, and focus on overall mental health and wellness.”

The following is a list of tutoring supports that TLDSB has previously provided or currently have in place this school year.

“We are committed to improving the literacy and numeracy skills of our students, as they are the foundational skills needed not only for academics, but a successful life in today’s society,” says superintendent of learning, Jay MacJanet. “Without the basics in literacy and mathematics, students will struggle to progress and engage with subjects across the curriculum and with future employment.”

TLDSB is currently seeking community partnerships to provide tutoring for students from January to April 2023. The Ministry of Education has recently confirmed their Tutoring Supports Program funding will continue until March 2023.
