Township Of Oro-Medonte Municipal Drinking Water Systems Receive 100% Inspection Rating

Mayor Greenlaw, members of Council, and Environmental Services division staff are pleased to announce that all municipal drinking water systems in Oro-Medonte have received an inspection rating of 100% from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), with no issues of non-compliance or Provincial Officer’s orders to comply for the 2022 reporting year.

In Ontario, every drinking water system is subject to legislative requirements and regulations of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Each year, the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) undertakes an inspection of Drinking Water Systems to confirm compliance with MEPC legislation, as well as conformance with Ministry drinking water related policies. Inspections are focused on the source, treatment and distribution components, as well as water system management practices, including: operator certifications, operational procedures, and emergency planning.

Mayor Greenlaw commented that “reliable and safe drinking water is of the utmost importance for the community of Oro-Medonte. Environmental Services staff are commended for their continued professionalism, and efforts and achievement in operating, managing and maintaining the Township’s Municipal Drinking Water Systems resulting in a 100% rating from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.”
