Township Of Muskoka Lakes Approves 2023 Municipal Budget

On March 27, 2023 Township Council approved the 2023 Operating and Capital Budget and Forecast.

The 2023 Budget has a net levy of $13,700,600, which represents a 3.9% tax rate increase over 2022. The estimated tax increase to a typical residential property valued at $100,000 is $4.84. The 2023 Budget continues to support spending in key services areas that residents value while also making significant contributions to reserves and reserve funds to support needed renewal investments in our local infrastructure.

“As a Township, we continue to strive to balance affordability for residents and businesses while continuing to fund the Township’s Strategic Goals,” said Mayor Kelley.

“I’d like to thank Council and staff for their dedication to putting our community first and ensuring we have a budget that keeps us moving forward.”

From an environmental protection perspective, notable projects slated for 2023 include: Climate Mitigation Plan, creation of an online planning application system, updated Sewage System Re-Inspection Program, development of Short Term Rental and Dark Sky By-Laws.  As it relates to updating the Township’s capital infrastructure plan, the budget provided resources for an Arena Feasibility Study, as well as a Fire Station Location Study.
