Muskoka Lakes

To better serve the community, the Township of Muskoka Lakes is looking for input from residents to gain a deeper understanding of the 2019 flood and determine areas of improvement for emergency planning and response.

During April/May 2019, the Township of Muskoka Lakes and surrounding areas experienced exponentially high-water levels that resulted in localized flooding. On April 28, 2019, Mayor Phil Harding under the Emergency Management & Civil Protection Act, Declared an Emergency for Muskoka Lakes. The Emergency Declaration was lifted on May 16, 2019.

The Township is now seeking community input and ideas on how it could improve its response to a future flood event and update our Emergency Plan procedures. A short survey is available on the Township website at www.muskokalakes.ca. Hard copies of the survey are available at the Township Office in Port Carling and the Muskoka Lakes Chamber of Commerce Office in Bala. Please submit all hard copy surveys to the Township Office in Port Carling.

The deadline to complete the survey and provide input is Friday, June 28, 2019.

If you have any questions, please call the Township at 705-765-3156.
