If you are wondering what to do this coming Family Day Weekend you should definitely make time to take in the 2019 Gravenhurst Winter Carnival!
No matter your age or interests, there is something for everyone. A variety of outdoor and indoor activities and events for children both big and small; Skokie’s Pizza Party, Skokies Birthday Party, nail driving, log sawing, donut eating, wagon rides, and one of the most popular child attractions, the “mountain” of snow to climb and slide on. Plus new this year, and outdoor interactive Skokie’s Funland. If you are drawn to the more action packed motor sports, there are snowmobile radar runs, snowmobile puddle jumps, a demolition derby and a vintage snowmobile display. For the individuals, young couples, adults escaping children or those whose children have flown the nest, there are also plenty of activities to enjoy: arm wrestling, bed race, wing eating, a lip-sync competition and a carnival dance with a live band and bar. For those whose interest is of a more cerebral nature, there is an ‘Ignite’ series of lectures, wagon history tour, and the Archives will be making a presentation on ice harvesting.
It’s not all just in downtown Gravenhurst; events are happening at the Summerland General Store, Ryde Co-op, the Wharf and in Severn Bridge.
