For the fifth year in a row, the Gravenhurst Tim Hortons are raising money for local schools through the annual Smile Cookie Campaign, with Gravenhurst High School being this year’s recipients.

From April 27 until May 3, Smile Cookies will be available at both Gravenhurst locations for $2 each, with any number of cookies over four being tax free.

The campaign to help local schools was started by former operator Ashley Hrinkanic in 2022, with owners Paul Stevenson and Tammy Jacklin opting to continue it when they took over in 2023.

Gravenhurst Tim Hortons raised $22,202 for Muskoka Beechgrove, $19,806 for Gravenhurst Public School, $18,494 for KP Manson, and $18,051 for Glen Orchard. Kristina Brownlee, General Manager for the Gravenhurst locations, said that the last four years have raised way more than was expected for all of the local schools.

“This is our final year for our local schools being the recipients of the Smile Cookie campaign, so we are looking forward to seeing how much the high school can raise this year!”

GHS guidance counselor Carol Kent said that this year’s campaign is significant because of the connection between GHS students and Tim Hortons.

“It means a lot, especially because a lot of our high school students work at Tim Hortons, whether it be after school jobs, summer jobs, or co-ops. Students will also be volunteering to decorate the Smile Cookies all week, which is really great because of the 40 hour community involvement requirement for graduation.”

Kent said that because they are unsure of how much money will be raised, the school hasn’t narrowed down what the funds raised will go towards yet, but that they will go towards things that benefit students at GHS.

“Some of the ideas that have come up are a set of bleachers for the field, the bursary fund, or supporting students who need access to different opportunities within the school that don’t have the funds to support it. Once we know how much money we’re working with, we will be able to determine what is the best use of those funds, because it really varies, but it will be towards supporting student life at GHS.”

According to Kent, GHS has already received pre-orders for more than 30 dozen Smile Cookies. She said the hope is that the same momentum continues into next week when sales officially begin.

“We hope that a lot of past students and past staff support. We’ve reached out to our feeder schools to support us as well because, although we are separate schools, we really do work together and they’re preparing the students to come to GHS, so hopefully they support us. We hope everyone goes out and purchases.”

To support Gravenhurst High School through the Smile Cookie campaign, visit the Gravenhurst Tim Hortons locations at 150 Talisman Drive and 2329 Highway 11 South from April 27 to May 3.

Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions is inviting the community to come together in support of children, youth and families through the upcoming Smile Cookie campaign, running April 27 to May 3 at four local Tim Hortons locations in Midland and Penetanguishene.

During the campaign, 100 per cent of proceeds from Smile Cookie sales and in-store donations will directly support Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions, with an additional $2 from every cookie plushie sold.

Funds raised will help address urgent needs for children, youth and families, including access to food, clothing, education support and opportunities that promote stability and well-being.

Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions is a non-profit multi-service agency operating in the District of Muskoka and Simcoe County and is one of two organizations legally mandated to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect. Programs and services are developed in response to the needs of children, youth, and families.

“The families we work with can face challenges and barriers, including access to basic needs that many of us take for granted,” said Candace Gordon, Fund Development and Engagement Coordinator at Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions. “Campaigns like Smile Cookie give our community a simple and meaningful way to come together and directly support children and youth who need it most.”

While government funding supports mandated services, additional programs that enhance the well-being of children and youth – such as access to camp, education support and basic needs – rely on donations and community support.

“We see first-hand how impactful community support can be in a child’s life,” Gordon added. “Whether it’s helping a youth gain independence, ensuring a child has what they need to succeed in school, or supporting a family through a difficult time, every contribution helps create stability and opportunity.”

Community members are encouraged to visit one of the following participating Tim Hortons locations to support the campaign:

9225 Highway 93, Midland

475 Bay Street, Midland

16815 Highway 12, Midland

132 Main Street, Penetanguishene

As seen through previous community initiatives, local support plays a critical role in helping families meet urgent needs and build toward long-term stability.

Interesting in ordering a larger quantity? Ready to treat your staff, co-workers, friends and family with smile cookies? Contact Candace Gordon at Candace.Gordon@familyconnexions.ca for an order form or drop in to one of the four listed locations to pick yours up.

You can register to volunteer and help put smiles on cookies and faces by visiting https://form.jotform.com/smfconnexions/smile-cookie-volunteer-application

Tim Hortons is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the launch of Timbits back in 1976 with a special limited-edition 50-pack Timbits box that will start rolling out to restaurants across Canada in the days ahead.

“Fifty years ago, a little bite-sized donut started something much bigger than anyone could have imagined. From being passed around the car during a road trip, to being shared in the stands at the hockey rink, or on the field after a fun soccer game, Timbits became a treat that Canadians enjoyed together during special moments with family and friends,” said Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons.

“Having Timbits at the heart of special moments is something we’re incredibly proud of and we look forward to carrying forward the tradition for the next 50 years.”

While Timbits have been around for half a century, they continue to be incredibly popular – in fact, more Timbits were sold across Canada in 2025 compared to any other year on record! The most popular classic Timbits flavour in Canada last year – and for several years running – was the Chocolate Glazed.

Over the course of 2025, Tims released two new flavours of Filled Timbits: Blueberry Cheesecake and Crème Brulée. Stay tuned for exciting news about more new Timbits flavours coming to a Tims near you later this year!

Tim Hortons is revealing Canadians’ favourite menu items from the past year and what guests across the country ordered most on their Tims® Runs.

In 2025, the top donut was the Apple Fritter, and Chocolate Glazed was Canada’s favourite Timbits flavour. The most common coffee order was the Tims’ classic Double Double® while the iconic Iced Capp was the top cold beverage order.

New for 2025:
2025 was an exciting year of food and beverage innovation at Tims, including the launch of scrambled eggs made with freshly cracked eggs in February, the Supreme Stack lunch and dinner sandwich in June, plus delicious hot and iced protein beverages and Chai Lattes in August.

Here’s a look at which cities were the biggest fans of Tims newest menu offerings:

The Loaded Breakfast Box with scrambled eggs was ordered by guests in Richmond, British Columbia more than anywhere else.

Sherwood Park, Alberta was the top city for Supreme Stack sandwich orders.

Tims fans in Surrey, British Columbia ordered Tims protein beverages the most.

Guests in Markham, Ontario topped all other cities for Tims new hot and iced Chai Latte orders.

Here are some other Tims highlights from the year:

Prince Edward Island brewed up the largest year-over-year percentage increase in Tims Rewards™ members.

The most popular Tims Delivery order of the year was for four coffees.

Tims fans couldn’t resist the heat-activated charm of the collectible Black Cat ceramic mug, making it this year’s top-selling merchandise item on TimShop.ca.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Canadians, over $50 million was raised in 2025 through Tim Hortons charitable programs, including Special Olympics Donut, Smile Cookie, Camp Day, Orange Sprinkle Donut, and Holiday Smile Cookie.

“We’re proud that Tims restaurant owners continue to embrace the mission that our founder Tim Horton created for his first location: to be a place where anyone could go, at any time, and feel at home. We’re thankful to be part of so many Canadians’ daily routines and special moments,” said Axel Schwan, president of Tim Hortons.

“This wouldn’t be possible without our incredible Tims restaurant owners and their team members’ dedication to serving our delicious food and beverages, with exceptional hospitality, and their passion for giving back to the local communities they call home.”
