Special weather statement issued for:
South River – Burk’s Falls,
Western Algonquin Park – Lake of Two Rivers,
Huntsville – Baysville,
Town of Parry Sound – Rosseau – Killbear Park,
Oxtongue Lake – Fort Irwin – Northern Haliburton County,

Current details:
Winter storm possible late Thursday into Saturday.

Hazards:
Snow, heavy at times, may make travel hazardous. Total snowfall amounts up to 15 cm are possible by Saturday morning, especially over higher terrain of Algonquin Park and the Haliburton Highlands.
Risk of freezing rain. Light ice accretion is possible on untreated surfaces.

Timing:
Thursday night to Saturday morning.

Discussion:
Snow, heavy at times, develops late Thursday night into Friday. Snow may quickly accumulate and visibility may be reduced to near zero at times. There will also be a risk of freezing rain on Friday which may result in untreated surfaces becoming icy and slippery. Snow and any freezing rain will taper to flurries Saturday morning. There remains some uncertainty in the exact track of the system which will affect precipitation types and amounts.

Prepare for quickly deteriorating travel conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights and be prepared to stop.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
