The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) returns for its 34th summer season with an exciting lineup of concerts, art, comedy, and community celebration. As Muskoka’s largest multi-arts festival, HfA invites everyone to experience a summer filled with music, connection, and creativity.

This year’s theme—“The Arts Are In Our Nature”—invites audiences and visitors to explore and discover their own creative spirit through inspiring performances and shared artistic moments.

From concerts to lakeside movie nights, the 2026 season is bursting with opportunities for audiences of all ages and backgrounds to shine.

Returning favourites include legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Jim Cuddy (2 shows), the enchanting Holly Cole, acclaimed comedian Ron James, Canadian icon Steven Page, country legends The Good Brothers, and the return of William Prince, bringing his signature blend of heartfelt storytelling and country gospel.

Audiences can revisit iconic albums with Classic Albums Live: Hotel California. Founded in 2003 by Craig Martin, Classic Albums Live recreates legendary records live—note for note, cut for cut—with world-class musicians. CHOIR! CHOIR! CHOIR! returns for two epic sing-along shows celebrating the hits of the ’80s and ’90s. Additional tribute highlights include The Last Waltz (The Band), Oh So Sweet (Gordon Lightfoot), and Whiskey Jack (Stompin’ Tom Connors).

The season also showcases outstanding Canadian talent, including the eclectic Rheostatics, Celtic fiddler Ashley MacIsaac, maritime troubadour Adam Baldwin, and Toronto indie legends Lowest of the Low, celebrating the 35th anniversary of their seminal album Shakespeare My Butt.

Programming continues to include unique venues. Hillside Farm will host MORE BARN!: The Music of Neil Young for two nights, spearheaded by local favourite Tobin Spring, as well as a performance by multi-JUNO Award-winning banjo player Kaia Kater.

Classical music lovers can look forward to the return of The Elmer Iseler Singers, joined by Vancouver’s renowned Bergmann Piano Duo for a dynamic program including selections from West Side Story. In August, local pianist Kyung-A Lee returns with a stunning candlelight concert celebrating iconic film music.

History and storytelling take centre stage with the return of Tom Thomson’s Wake, a musical exploring the life and mysterious death of the famed Canadian artist. Legendary broadcaster Alan Cross will also present an engaging talk featuring stories from his career and insights into the evolution of modern music.

Comedy fans can enjoy Yuk Yuk’s On Tour at Canvas Brewing, while the Cottage Country Drag Festival returns with a vibrant showcase featuring the Spice Queens, Karamilk, and performers from Muskoka’s drag community. For families, Dogs Do Magic promises an unforgettable mix of magic, comedy, and canine hijinks.

The festival also features a wide range of community events. Nuit Blanche North returns as a one-night, multi-arts street festival transforming downtown Huntsville. Movie on the Docks offers a unique boat-in cinema experience, with films projected on a double-sided screen for audiences on land and water.

On June 21, HfA will celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day at River Mill Park, featuring performances and activities that honour Indigenous culture and heritage. Canada Day celebrations include the 2026 Canoe Mural Project, where graffiti artists reinterpret the works of Tom Thomson on canoes.

Additional highlights include the Huntsville ART CRAWL (June 1–August 30), and Dancing on the Docks, a free weekly event featuring live music and dance instruction every Thursday evening.

HfA will also partner with ISKCON Muskoka to present a free concert with Delhi 2 Dublin at River Mill Park, featuring food, family-friendly activities, and a Bhangra dance class ahead of the performance.

“The theme of our summer season is The Arts Are In Our Nature” says Dan Watson, Executive Director of Huntsville Festival of the Arts. “We hope our season invites artists and audiences alike to reflect on importance of the arts—within themselves, in their community, and in the beauty of this place we call home..”

Tickets go on sale to the general public on May 5 at 10:00 AM. Early access is available starting April 22 through the “Friend of the Festival” membership, which also includes a 15% discount on Festival shows and additional perks.

Huntsville Festival of the Arts is pleased to announce the return of Nuit Blanche North (NbN), taking place on July 18, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM in downtown Huntsville. This free, late night celebration of contemporary art will transform the town’s core into a vibrant hub of creativity, featuring installations and performances in unexpected and unconventional spaces.

Artists from across the region and beyond are invited to submit proposals for this year’s event, which embraces the theme Into the Wild.

“Into the Wild considers ‘wild’ as both landscape and state of being,” says Artistic Dan Watson. “We are inviting artists to explore the untamed—within nature, within ourselves, and within the spaces we inhabit—blurring the boundaries between control and chaos, restraint and release, and the forces that pull us between order and freedom.”

Nuit Blanche North encourages bold, imaginative, and interactive projects that engage audiences and activate public space. Organizers are particularly interested in works that foster participation and reflect the unique character of the Muskoka/Parry Sound region.

The exhibition area spans downtown Huntsville, including Main Street from the swing bridge to Centre Street, bounded by Minerva Street to the south and River Mill Park to the north. Main St. will be closed to traffic between Centre St. and Brunel Rd. Local businesses, cultural organizations, and community spaces are encouraged to take part by opening their doors and hosting artistic programming throughout the night.

The call is open to individual artists and collectives of all disciplines and experience levels. Selected projects must be site-specific, free to the public, and accessible throughout the duration of the event.

Deadline for applications is April 24, 2026 at 5pm

The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) is pleased to announce the
launch of its annual Scholarship Awards Program.

The Scholarship Awards foster the development of performing arts talent
HFA also encourages applications from students with a background in technical support of the performing arts including stage management,
lighting, set design and sound. Over 100 local youth have received financial support since the program’s inception in 1997. 2025 recipients include Ty Horvath (dance), Maxine Culjak (viola), Malcolm Fairhall (saxophone), Annalise Henderson (Theatre), Oliver Fisher
(guitar), Bella Main (Musical Theatre) and Sadie Laurence (music).

The Huntsville Festival of the Arts is pleased to offer two categories of funding for Junior (16 & under) & Senior (17 & older) Performing Arts
Scholarships.

Junior Scholarship (16 & under): Nominations will be accepted for local
youth to receive financial honorariums in support of their artistic
artistic development.

Senior Scholarship (17 & older): Applications will be accepted for local
training & development. Individual candidates may be awarded up to
$1,500.00.

Candidates and nominees must reside in the greater Huntsville and Lake
of Bays area. The deadline for applications is March 26th at 5pm.

Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) is thrilled to present What You Won’t Do For Love, a powerful and intimate hybrid live-theatre and film performance starring renowned environmentalists Dr. David Suzuki and Dr. Tara Cullis, on March 5, 2026, at the Algonquin Theatre.

Presented by Why Not Theatre, What You Won’t Do For Love invites audiences into a warm, conversational reflection on Suzuki and Cullis’s 50-year romantic partnership and their shared life of environmental advocacy. Through storytelling, humour, and reflection, the performance explores a profound question: Can we learn to love the planet as deeply as we love one another?

Directed by Why Not Theatre Founder and Co-Artistic Director Ravi Jain (Mahabharata, Sea Sick, Prince Hamlet), with co-direction and dramaturgy by Kevin Matthew Wong, Artistic Director of Broadleaf Creative (The Chemical Valley Project, Benevolence Hall), the production examines love’s extraordinary capacity to inspire action and propel collective responsibility toward a healthier, more sustainable planet.

Following the performance, audiences will be invited to stay for a short live Q&A with David Suzuki and Tara Cullis, offering a rare opportunity to hear directly from the pair and engage with their ideas, experiences, and reflections. Signed books by David Suzuki will also be available for purchase on site, making this a truly special evening for fans and supporters.

“It’s incredible to have Canadian icon David Suzuki join us live,” says Dan Watson, Artistic Director of Huntsville Festival of the Arts. “Now at the age of 90, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate the life and legacy of someone so important to our nation and to the well-being of our environment.”

What You Won’t Do For Love is both a personal love story and a call to action—an inspiring evening that blends theatre, film, and environmental reflection through the voices of two of Canada’s most respected advocates.

The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA), one of Muskoka’s leading arts organizations, is seeking a new Managing Director to help guide the Festival into its next exciting chapter of growth and creativity.

For over 30 years, HfA has been a cornerstone of arts and culture in Muskoka. Presenting between 60 and 70 concerts and events each year, the Festival offers a vibrant mix of music, theatre, dance, visual arts, and community programs. While its busiest season is summer, HfA has evolved into a year-round presenter, connecting world-class artists with local audiences and fostering creativity across the region.

“HfA has always been about bringing people together through the arts,” says Artistic Director Dan Watson. “We’re looking for a Managing Director who shares that passion — someone who can balance creative vision with sound leadership and a strong sense of community.”

The Managing Director will serve as the organization’s senior administrative leader, overseeing operations, finances, and human resources. Working closely with the Artistic Director and the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will ensure the smooth and sustainable delivery of HfA’s mission — balancing artistic excellence, financial responsibility, and community impact.

HfA is known for its collaborative, can-do team spirit, where staff and volunteers alike contribute to the success of every event and initiative. The position is ideal for an experienced arts administrator who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants to make a tangible difference in a vibrant regional arts community.

Located in the heart of Muskoka, Huntsville offers an exceptional quality of life — surrounded by natural beauty, supported by an active creative community, and connected to Ontario’s broader cultural landscape.

The position offers a full-time, permanent role with an annual salary of $55,000–$65,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include a health plan, paid vacation, professional development opportunities, and access to festival events.

📅 Application Deadline: November 28, 2025 @ 5 PM
🚀 Start Date: January 12, 2026

Interested applicants are invited to submit a single PDF including a cover letter and résumé to dan@huntsvillefestival.ca
