Sophia Fracassi has always turned to music to ride out life’s storms. At just 18, Sophia has taken the music scene by storm with her direct and confident voice, indicative of someone who has dedicated her whole life to her art. With her latest release, “But I Do”, she discusses the tension of breaking down, but still being able to hold on.

Taking inspiration from icons like Joni Mitchell and Taylor Swift, Sophia writes about what she knows. “It’s important to realize life can go in many different directions,” she says. “Sometimes plans don’t happen as intended.” Sophia wants her music to be a reflection of her own personal experiences, and a vessel to share her story authentically and honestly.

With a goal to raise $100,000, proceeds from the November 4th hybrid event being held at the Midland Cultural Centre will support young people across the region by funding a new preventative online mental health program for youth; a tool designed with youth for youth that will be available to youth and youth organizations for free.

Waypoint is working together with youth and mental health partners to help kids and young adults maintain their mental wellbeing, build resiliency skills, and find the help they need before a crisis occurs.

“Preventative care is one of the most effective ways to keep communities healthy,” said Dr. Nadiya Sunderji, Waypoint President and CEO. “With a strong network of mental health and addiction partners, the launch of the North Simcoe Youth Wellness Hub, Waypoint’s new Family, Child and Youth Mental Health program, as well as this new preventative program, young people in our region have more service options than ever before. The Township of Oro-Medonte has been made aware the Ever After Music Festival
(“Festival”) that had been scheduled to take place at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds from
August 11 to August 14, 2022, has been cancelled by the event organizers.
The Festival was not being operated, produced, or affiliated with Burl’s Creek Event
Grounds, or Republic Live. The production and operation of the Festival was instead
being managed by a third party event organizer.
Since establishment of the Township’s Special Event By-law in 2015, many large-scale
events (i.e. over 10,000 attendees) have been held in the Township and at the Burl’s

Creek Event Grounds. The Special Event By-law, inclusive of review and approval sign-
off by all agency partners involved with special events, ensures a consistent and coordinated approach for the security and safety of all event attendees, and to mitigate
the potential adverse impacts of such events to the community.

Over the past several months, Township staff and agency partners (i.e., OPP, AGCO,
County of Simcoe Paramedic Services, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit etc.) have
communicated with representatives from the Festival for the purpose of providing
logistical assistance to facilitate the development of an acceptable operational plan that
is required for the issuance of a Special Event Permit by the Township.

Given the incomplete status of the operational plan submitted by the organizers for the
Festival, the ability to implement appropriate controls and public safety measures and
requirements within an appropriate time frame prior to commencement of the Festival,
and potential adverse impacts to public health and safety and security of attendees,
performers, vendors, and residents; the Township’s agency partners could not approve
the operational plan for the Festival. In accordance with its obligations under the Special
Event By-law, the Township could not issue a permit to allow the Festival to proceed.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has opened in 192 ScreenX locations worldwide in 31 countries bringing in $3.7 million to date with a few additional countries set to open in January 2022, including Japan.

Spider-Man: No Way Home in ScreenX expands exclusive sequences of the film only available in ScreenX onto the left and right-side walls of the auditorium, surrounding audiences with extended imagery which naturally fills their peripheral vision. CJ 4DPLEX worked closely with Sony Pictures to ensure the highest quality presentation of the film and selected over eight pivotal scenes throughout the film for the exclusive ScreenX version. ScreenX draws moviegoers into the story on the main screen and immerses them in a virtual reality like setting with cinema quality resolution.

Additional ScreenX box office highlights: in the UK, with 20 ScreenX locations, the format had its biggest opening weekend ever, recording $205,000; in Korea, with 50 ScreenX theatres, the film reported over $530,000 opening weekend, the best opening for the format since the pandemic started.

It will be presented in two – 3 hour blocks, each with a repeating program of dance performances, walkabout characters, exhibits and hands on art making activities.

OFF THE BEATEN PATH starts with a hoop dance performance/demonstration by D.N.A Stage: Nimkii Osawamick.

The performance will engage people through the art of song and dance teaching them bravery and courage as we maneuver through the hoops creating and learning about the creation stories and how we are a part of this circle of life. Nimkii-nini (Thunder-man) is Odawa/Potawatami from Wiikwemkoongsing Unceded Territory on Manitoulin Island, ON. Member of the wolf clan.

Following this, Corpus Dance Projects presents “Les Moutons”: a hilarious & surrealistic overview of sheep behaviour.  Last seen in Huntsville at the 2014 Nuit Blanche North, Les Moutons in an international sensation having been programmed in more than 100 festivals in over 25 countries.

Adding to all this fun will be art making & exhibitions by local artists Elise Muller, Pam Carnochan & Nathan Sowrey which feature artistic works created using natural materials. You’ll also see walkabout performer Greg Tarlin and his hilarious Ostrich on stilts.

The event will follow regulations set out by the Simcoe/Muskoka District Health Unit with a maximum capacity of 100 at any one time.

The event is free, but registration is mandatory and can be done online at huntsvillefestival.ca or at the gates of River Mill Park on the day of the event.

Republic Live proudly announces the ‘Endless Summer Series’, celebrating an all-Canadian mixed-genre outdoor concert series with camping available. The first event kicks off August long weekend at Burl’s Creek, following the Province’s Stage 2 COVID regulations and featuring physical distancing. Festival fans, concert goers and traditional campers can all reunite under one sky to enjoy the great outdoors and great music in a covid-safe space.

As a venue, Burl’s Creek Event Grounds typically has over 40,000 fans in attendance for Boots and Hearts Music Festival, Canada’s largest country and camping festival. With nearly 600 acres of event space, the venue can host over 70,000 fans, and will utilize the ample space to operate safely at an extremely reduced concert capacity of 5,000 fans.

full artist lineup for the award-winning Boots and Hearts Music Festival. Going into its ninth year, Boots and Hearts continues to flourish as Canada’s largest camping music festival, providing fans with unforgettable experiences.

Known for his rowdy rock-country persona, Eric Church has dominated the contemporary country scene, earning praise among fans and industry alike. Making their Boots and Hearts debuts are Friday night co-headliners Jon Pardi and Dustin Lynch. The Bala Legion is working with the Glen Orchard Public School on a National Unity fundraiser. The school is twinning with a grade 7-8 class in Yorkton, Saskatchewan for an exchange program. Students from Yorkton will enjoy a week in Ontario, taking in many events and making new friends, while our grade 7-8 students will travel to Saskatchewan to learn about life in the Prairies.
