On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at approximately 7:10 p.m., officers were called to Scouts Valley Trail where one person was located deceased.

As a result of the investigation, Devon Alamina, 33 years old of Brampton, was arrested and charged with second degree murder.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

Investigators believe there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area of Scouts Valley Trail off Old Barrie Road as the investigation continues.

The Orillia OPP Crime Unit is conducting this investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.

Investigators are urging members of the public to contact police if they were in or near the Scouts Valley Trail area on the evening of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, and have any information that could be relevant, including dashcam footage.

The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a third individual after two fires occurred in Oro-Medonte in the same subdivision.

As a result of further investigation, on May 13^th officers of the Orillia Major Crime Unit identified a third individual Arshdeep Singh, a 26-year-old of Brampton, who was arrested and charged with the following offence:

–      Arson – Damage to Property

SINGH was held for bail and released with a court date of June 9^th, 2026.

Between January 20^th and February 10^th, the Orillia OPP, alongside local fire services, responded to two reports of residential fires in a new subdivision off Bass Lake Side Road in Oro-Medonte. All fires were safely contained, and there were no reported injuries.

In March two individuals were arrested, charged and are still before the courts.

Harminder SANDHAR (40) of Kitchener, was charged with:

–      Arson – Damage to Property x2

Dikshant Goyal (22) of Brampton, was charged with:

–      Arson – Damage to Property x2

On Monday, March 30, 2026, at 7:10 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to an emergency call from a resident on First Street South in Gravenhurst after a man tried to enter their unit brandishing a weapon. The victim’s residence was not randomly targeted. The suspect fled in a vehicle and was located traveling south on Highway 11 South, officers were able to safely bring the vehicle to a stop in Orillia and took the suspect into custody.

Police have charged 29-year-old Richlue Vincent of Brampton, ON with assault with a weapon and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, he will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge for a bail hearing on March 31, 2026.

In Autumn 2024, the Southern Georgian Bay CSCU initiated a drug trafficking investigation involving multiple individuals. On December 4, 2025, search warrants were executed simultaneously at residences in York Region and Tiny Township, along with a vehicle stop in Springwater Township.

Assisting with this investigation were the Collingwood/Orillia/Huronia West/Caledon/Nottawasaga CSCU, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, Central Region Intelligence Unit, Frontline Uniform Members, Offender Transport Unit, and York Regional Police Tactical Teams.

Officers seized multiple kilograms of suspected cocaine and crystal methamphetamine valued at approximately $300,000, as well as items consistent with the sale and trafficking of drugs, including cell phones, currency, digital scales, and a vacuum sealer.

As a result of the investigation, three individuals were arrested and charged with offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

Timothy LEMAY, 33 years of Tiny Township was held for a bail hearing on December 5, 2025 before the Ontario Court of Justice :

• Trafficking in Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

On September 28, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP received information regarding a possible impaired driver on Highway 69 near Shawanaga First Nation. The vehicle was located and stopped; officers spoke with the driver and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

Cassidy Uris, 36 years-of-age of Brampton Ontario was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80plus)
• Driving a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on November 6, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

An investigation has been ongoing into the careless and unsafe use of firearms, as depicted in videos shared online. As a result of the investigation, Gurkanwal Singh, 24, of Brampton was arrested on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, and charged with two counts of careless use of a firearm.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on October 7, 2025. Their firearms licence and weapons were also seized.

This investigation remains ongoing. Officers continue to actively investigate, gathering evidence and following up on leads to ensure a thorough and complete investigation.

On July 14, 2025 at 4:20 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers along with Muskoka Paramedic Services, responded to reports of a singe-vehicle collision that occurred on Carlsmount Road in Bracebridge. A member of the public came upon the collision after the vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a tree, the occupants then fled the scene.

Police were able to locate the occupants and arrested and charged 40-year-old Shekhar Phogat of Brampton, ON with Impaired Operation and Failure/Refusal to Comply with Demand (breath). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on August 19, 2025 to answer to his charges.

On June 19, 2025 at 7:34p.m., the Huntsville OPP were dispatched to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Hidden valley Rd. The investigation resulted in the drivers arrest for impaired operation.

As a result of the investigation, Kathleen Quinlan, 51 years old of Huntsville Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 22, 2025.

On June 22, 2025 at 12:20a.m., the Huntsville OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Main St West, when they suspected a driver to have alcohol in their body.

As a result of the investigation, Rasmeen Masuta, 24 years old of Brampton Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80plus)

The accused is set to appear in court August 5, 2025 at Ontario court of Justice in Bracebridge, Ontario,

All 3 drivers have had their vehicles impounded for 7 days and they received a 90 Administrative Driver’s license Suspension.

On June 9, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m. officers received a report of a person with a firearm near a business on Bowes Street in the Town of Parry Sound. Officers located and arrested the suspect. Officers located a high-capacity magazine, and a quantity of cocaine valued at over $25,000 and $10,000 in Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, Devonte Caooa, 25-years-of-age of Brampton was arrested and charged with:

• Traffick in schedule 1 substance – cocaine
• Possession of prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

The accused was held for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay and is scheduled to appear on June 10, 2025.
