Suspicious Vehicle Complaint Leads OPP To Investigate Waubaushene Resident, Several Charges Laid

As a result of a community members complaint of a suspicious vehicle called into the OPP Communication Centre, a Waubaushene resident now faces a number of driving related charges.

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded at approximately 11:46 p.m. November 5, 2024 to the complaint and located the vehicle and spoke with the lone occupant, entering into an impaired by drug driving investigation.

The scene investigation resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drug paraphernalia and a further investigation at detachment by a qualified OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer has led to the following charges.

John Joe Danny Ganny 45 years of Waubaushene, Tay Township has been charged with – Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court, Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court all contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was further arrested on outstanding warrants held by detachment members in regards to area investigations.

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date. The involved motorcycle was towed and is the subject of a 45 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
