Suspicious Fire At Bangor Lodge Has OPP Looking For Tips And Witnesses

A building on a historic Bracebridge lodge property was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon. On July 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Bracebridge Fire, Muskoka Paramedic Services and Bracebridge OPP responded to Bangor Lodge Road located at 1050 Bowyers Beach Road where an abandoned theatre building was destroyed by fire.

OPP had several roads blocked and were collecting evidence from witnesses. All roads have reopened in the area.

The smoke could be seen towering above the tree line from as far away as Manitoba street in town. No reported injuries or word on a cause of the fire.

The OPP have issued a press release:

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Bracebridge Fire Department, responded to a report of a structure fire at an abandoned building on the former Bangor Lodge property on Bowyers Beach Road in Bracebridge at 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.

The fire is suspicious and police are looking for any potential witnesses that may have seen activity on the property that may assist in the ongoing investigation.
