A family from Sundridge is hoping to bring attention to their hometown after auditioning for Family Feud Canada.
Team captain Elicia Harper grew up in Sundridge until 2007 when her family moved to Niagara Falls. Most of her family still lives in Sundridge, including her cousins and team members Amy Webb and Mike McDonald, and the whole team regularly visits the area. They’re representing both Sundridge and Niagara Falls in their attempt to get on the game show.
“We have all been watching Family Feud for years,” Harper said. “We are a very fun, unique family that has a competitive side. We are ready to win Family Feud and put Almaguin [and] Sundridge on the map!”
The audition process started with a basic questionnaire followed by a longer application with details about each of the team members and their hometowns. After that, the team submitted a video, showcasing their personalities and introducing themselves to the producers.
Harper said the producers loved their video submission and invited them to have a virtual audition on May 18 so they could get to know the family and have them play a mock round of the game. Producers told them they would find out if they’d be on show some time from August to November.
“It would mean the world to us as we have worked hard over the last few months to really showcase who we are as a family and that people who come from a small town can do something so enormous,” Harper said.
Sundridge is a hidden gem, bypassed by too many, she said, so she hopes their family can help showcase the area. Locals can support their team by leaving comments and sharing their story online.
“If you personally know our family, you know we will fight,” Harper said, “and we will win the show!”
