Nominations are now open for YWCA Muskoka’s 18th annual Women of Distinction Awards and the YWCA is looking to locals to nominate the exceptional women in their lives.
The YWCA encourages residents to nominate the women in their lives that contribute to the well-being of Muskoka through their actions and achievements. The eight categories for the awards include: Young Women of Distinction; Mentorship; Arts, Culture and Creative Energy; Health, Sports and Wellness; Community Development and Social Activism; Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Lifetime Achievement; and the Transformational Award. The deadline for nominations is 4 p.m. on Sept. 20. Nominations can be made online or at the YWCA Offices at 440 Ecclestone Drive in Bracebridge.
“Our community has much to be proud of this year—we’ve successfully navigated some significant challenges and continually come together to find solutions and build partnerships. And at the heart of this progress, you will find brilliant, compassionate and strong women,” said Hannah Lin, executive director of YWCA Muskoka. “Women of Distinction is our chance to recognize and celebrate these women who create positive change in Muskoka and who inspire and empower others to do the same.”
The awards will be presented on Oct. 25 at the YWCA Muskoka’s 18th annual Women of Distinction Gala, which also acts as a fundraising event to help the YWCA continue their work with women and girls in Muskoka.
