Two youth suspects were arrested and one of them is facing criminal charges following a lockdown at a Midland high school, according to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP.
Officers were called to investigate a serious allegation at Georgian Bay District Secondary School in Midland on Nov. 28. The school was placed on lockdown shortly before noon while police responded to the call. Two suspects were arrested soon after at a location off of school property, according to the OPP, and one youth will be facing Criminal Code charges. Police seized one pellet gun and there were no injuries. The lockdown was lifted once the suspect was arrested and police determined it was safe for staff and students to return to normal activities.
The OPP will continue to investigate the incident and provide updated information on charges as it becomes available. The Simcoe County District School Board will be sending a letter to families regarding the incident.
