Bracebridge OPP arrested an impaired driver thanks to the efforts of a concerned member of the public.
OPP say shortly after 8:00 p.m. on March 11th, they received a call from a concerned driver regarding a suspected impaired driver after he was witnessed swerving and then running a stop light in Gravenhurst. Police responded and were able to locate the suspect vehicle. Witnesses advised police that while they were responding the driver and passenger swapped seats. The officers spoke to the occupants of the vehicle and subsequently arrested the correct driver.
Charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle under the Criminal Code, Having Open Liquor in Vehicle under the Liquor Licence Act and Failure to Surrender Drivers Licence under the Highway traffic Act is 35 year old Mathew Mailey of Oro-Medonte. He will appear in Bracebridge Court on April 9, 2019.
