A Parry Sound resident has become the fifteenth impaired driver arrested and charged by the West Parry Sound OPP so far this year, according to a news release from the OPP on April 4.
A member of the West Parry Sound OPP was informed of a possible impaired driver on William Street in Parry Sound on April 2 and located the vehicle just after 5:30 p.m. After stopping the vehicle, the officer spoke to the driver and determined that she had consumed alcohol. Betty Spooner, 63, of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with Failure or refusal to comply with demand, contrary to section 320.15(1) of the Criminal Code (CC).
Spooner was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to be in court in Parry Sound on April 18. The vehicle she was driving was impounded for seven days.
The OPP said they want to remind motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police at 9-1-1 immediately.
