A committee has organized a Vigil for the victims of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team that will take place on Friday April 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bracebridge Memorial Arena located at 169 James St, Bracebridge.
Those who are interested in attending are encouraged to wear hockey jerseys and bring hockey sticks. The vigil will run for one hour ad will include a Chaplain led reflection, moment of silence, bagpiper. Many minor hockey teams have come forward to support this event.

The Town of Bracebridge has issued the following media release
The Town of Bracebridge has lowered flags at the municipal office to half mast to recognize the victims of the tragic bus crash in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, involving the Humboldt Broncos Junior A hockey team. Fifteen people were killed and fourteen others injured in the crash.
“Our thoughts, our prayers and our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims of this terrible tragedy. We join communities across Canada in mourning this heartbreaking loss of life. On behalf of members of Bracebridge Council and the entire community, I offer sincere condolences to the families and friends of those lost, injured and impacted in the tragic accident on April 6th, 2018. We stand in support of Humboldt and the Broncos community,” said Mayor Graydon Smith.
The flags will fly at half-mast at the Municipal Office until the end of the day on April 25th.
“We were all shocked and numbed by the tragedy in Humboldt. The community of Bracebridge is hosting a vigil to show our support to the Humboldt Broncos, their grieving families and all who have been affected,” said Deputy Mayor Rick Maloney.
A group of citizens has organized a vigil for Humboldt, which will take place at 7 p.m. on April 13th at the Bracebridge Memorial Arena. They are asking those who are attending to wear their favourite team jersey, and to bring a stick to add to a memorial wall.
If driving to the vigil, please ensure that your parked vehicle is not blocking any driveway or impeding emergency vehicle access on any roadway. Residents are reminded that free public parking is available within the two Town parking lots (Arena and Chub Downey parking lots) directly across from the Memorial Arena.
