Three students from Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School (BMLSS) found success on the track this weekend, placing top ten in various categories at the OFSAA Track and Field Championships held from June 6 to 8 at the University of Guelph.
Emma Chilton finished 9th in the 400-metre hurdles while Gracelyn Larkin finished 6th and 11th in the 1500 and 800 metre respectively. Matt Larkin finished 8th in the 400 metre, in addition to taking home a silver medal in the 800 metre. The students went through four qualifying events to get to the provincial competition.
Matt Larkin will soon find out if he is selected for the National Team. If he makes the team, he will compete in international events in Mexico and the Carribean in August and September while Gracelyn Larkin is off to the University of New Mexico next year on a Division One Track Scholarship, according to track coach and BMLSS teacher Corbie Kent.
