On September 08, 2019 at 4:00 p.m., West Parry Sound OPP were investigating a collision when an operator of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) drove up to them. After speaking with the driver of the ATV, officers detected an odour of alcohol. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and was transported to the West Parry Sound OPP detachment where further testing was conducted.
As a result of further investigation, Lauri Kettunen, age 55 of Seguin Township, Ontario was charged with:
• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear in Parry Sound Court on October 17, 2019.
An ATV falls under the definition of a motor vehicle in the Criminal Code. Operating while impaired, even if on private property, will result with an immediate suspension of your driver’s licence for 90 days and upon conviction you may be prohibited from driving for one year.
West Parry Sound OPP have charged 47 drivers with impaired or over 80 operation of motor vehicles in 2019.
