More to this story we first told you about.

A roof collapsed at a building on Main St. W in Huntsville on March 14, trapping two people and severely damaging the porch structure at the back of the building.

Huntsville Fire, Huntsville OPP and Muskoka Paramedics Services responded to the roof collapse at 12 Main St. West in Huntsville at about 9:30 p.m. Two people were reported trapped in an apartment above the Gus and Gigi’s Pet Shoppe, but no injuries were reported. Main St. W was closed between Centre St. and Lorne St. as authorities addressed the collapse.

A relative of the residents said that it was the porch roof that caved in after one of the residents closed the door, leaving them trapped.

The collapse caused the structure to bulge at the sides, breaking windows and pushing out insulation from the walls. The area has been taped off by police.

Fire Prevention Officer Mike Vadlja confirmed that it was an addition at the rear of the building that collapsed and that the two occupants were safely removed.
