Thanks to the volunteer efforts of Mike Jefford, Peter Jefford, MJC Muskoka, Correctional Services Canada, Dads of Muskoka, Mark Quemby, Mr. Quemby, P. Medley and Sons, and Call of the Wild Inc., the outdoor ice rinks at the Memorial Park Winter Village and Annie Williams Memorial Park are open for skating. Throughout the season the Memorial Park Winter Village is maintained by the volunteer efforts of Mike
Jefford, MJC Muskoka and Correctional Services Canada. The ice rink at Annie Williams Memorial Park is maintained by the volunteer efforts of Mark Quemby, Correctional Services Canada, Rink Rats Hockey Club, Old Wicks Hockey Club, Spare Tires Hockey Club, Arctic Cats Hockey Club, and community volunteers. All volunteer efforts are greatly appreciated. This year, thanks to the volunteer efforts of Jeff Dewettering, Mike Jefford and the BIA, a Crokicurl rink has been added to the Memorial Park Winter Village. This newly invented Canadian game combines the winter sport of curling with the board game crokinole and is set to open at the Fire and Ice Festival on Saturday January 26th. The outdoor rinks are open from dawn to 9:00 p.m. and all participants are encouraged to wear a helmet. Hockey sticks and pucks are allowed at Annie Williams Memorial Park on the hockey side of the rink.
Unpredictable weather conditions affect the quality of the outdoor ice surfaces resulting in unsafe skating conditions. When this happens the outdoor rinks will be closed and signage will be posted.
Have Fun and Skate Safe!
