Main St. Local Kitchen in Huntsville is collecting donations and holding a fundraising day on Dec. 15 for one of their servers, who lost everything in a propane explosion last weekend.

The restaurant is currently bringing in donations at their storefront in downtown Huntsville and on Dec. 15, all the proceeds from restaurant operations will be given to their server Denise and her family.

Restaurant manager Spencer Thomas said he’s looking forward to seeing the support for the family during a time of year that’s already difficult for many people. When he first came to Muskoka, it was around the time Denise and her family started building the house that was destroyed over the weekend.

“My wife and I moved up here five years ago and we were floored by the community here,” said Thomas. “Just to work for a restaurant that cares about humanity and is willing to put profits aside and just be there to support people in the community who go through hard times is something that I’ve seen a lot in Muskoka and it’s part of what makes it a great place to live.”

If you would like to contribute a donation or participate in the fundraising day on Dec. 15, visit Main St. Local Kitchen at 24 Main St. E, Huntsville.
