The weather was finally on our side for the 2017 Collingwood Elvis Festival this past weekend at the Blue Mountain Village and downtown Collingwood. Hundreds of fans of The King mark this weekend on their calendar each year to take their vacation and soak in all the music, street parties and memorabilia and organizers estimate that this year’s 23rd annual festival attracted even more visitors than last year’s.
Some impersonators Shake, Rattle and Roll as a full-time job, while for many others it’s just for fun. All the Elvis Tribute Artists competed this weekend for cash and prizes, and on Sunday, the following winners were crowned from among all The Kings on hand:
- Concert Years: Gordon Hendricks, Stoke, England
- Early Years: Brycen Katolinsky, St. Catharines, Ontario
- Youth: Connor Russo
“My family is up enjoying the Elvis Festival,” said Festival-goer, Deb Wightman. “First weekend in six weeks with no rain in the forecast. Loving the sunshine!”
