It’s municipal election season in Ontario and this year promises a number of intriguing contests across Muskoka. The 2018 Gravenhurst municipal election will see a crop of seasoned local politicians running against a number of fresh faces for the Town’s top elected positions.
Voters will have their chance to hear from the candidates and meet them one on one during an upcoming All Candidates Meeting at the Gravenhurst Opera House. The Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce is spearheading the event, which will take place from 6 until 8:30 pm on Wednesday, October 3.
“It’s shaping up to be an exciting election this year and it’s a crucial one for the future of Gravenhurst,” says Sandy Lockhart, manager of the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce. “As a Chamber, we try to facilitate these meetings so the electorate can be informed when they head to the polls and make an educated decision.”
If you have questions for the candidates you would like asked during the meeting, email them to Sandy Lockhart at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please submit all questions by the end of the day Sept. 25. A committee will select which questions will be asked.
All of the Gravenhurst candidates for Town and District council have been invited to attend, as well as the nominees for school board trustee.
Acclaimed mayor Paul Kelly will be on hand to speak with those in attendance. The candidates will remain at the Opera House following the formal portion of the event for a face-to-face question and answer session with the public in Trillium Court.
Admission is by donation.
