Want to gain skills for entry into the construction trades – including carpentry, plumbing and electrical – and work toward becoming a qualified journeyperson?
You can build an in-demand career in the skilled trades with Georgian College’s FREE 14-week construction trades pre-apprenticeship program. It starts May 21 at the Muskoka Campus in Bracebridge.
Muskoka Campus Associate Dean Mac Greaves says the program is ideal for those seeking to enter the skilled trades, but who need additional training and support.
“This construction trades pre-apprenticeship will help those interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades, but don’t know where to start, and provide a pathway to apprenticeship programs,” says Greaves.
In addition to hands-on learning, students will receive first aid, WHMIS and working at heights training, and such soft skills as communication, teamwork and personal management.
This will help them connect to a robust job market and meet entrance requirements for the construction trades. Job search skills and job readiness planning and a paid 12-week work placement are also included.
Applicants must be 16 years of age or older, a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant, and not already registered as an apprentice.
Deadline to apply is April 30.
